Psychological assessments

Academic and learning assessment

Maximizing potential is one of our core beliefs. Our educational evaluations dive deep into learning styles, strengths, and areas of improvement, helping clients make informed decisions regarding academic and professional pursuits. Our psychoeducational evaluations are tailored to your questions, concerns, and school requirements.

  • Learning problems or learning disorders
  • Learning strengths, weaknesses, and styles
  • Giftedness
  • Suitability for school or program placement

Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)

Formal ADHD evaluation can:

  • Distinguish between true ADHD and other conditions in which inattention is a factor
  • Gather a picture of your child’s strengths and weaknesses in specific areas of    attention and executive functioning
  • Guide recommendations for maximizing functioning in home and school settings
  • Allow clinicians to formulate academic accommodations, if appropriate
  • Results that can be shared with schools/teachers, physicians, etc.

In addition to cognitive and neuropsychological testing, our evaluation procedure includes clinical interviews with the child and parents, standardized behavior rating scales, objective measures of attention and self-control, and screening for other potentially related issues. Teacher interviews and teacher-rated behavior scales can be used as well. Following testing, we host a feedback session with the parents and provide a comprehensive written report of results and recommendations.

Social, emotional, & behaviorial

A comprehensive psychological evaluation can help determine whether the issues your child is experiencing are developmentally typical or indicative of a clinically significant problem. Testing reveals information that is used in conjunction with other data to make a diagnosis, if appropriate. It also helps clinicians decide which treatments would be most effective.

We provide a comprehensive report and detailed recommendations based on test results. This information can be used as a baseline for comparison should further psychological testing or treatment be required at any point in the future, even in adulthood. For instance, test results can help psychiatrists make informed decisions about prescribing medications.
