Clinical Associate

Experience

I have clinical experience working in a range of settings with adult, adolescent, and child populations. I also have received advanced training in psychological testing, and offer psychoeducational and diagnostic assessment services.

My primary clinical focus has been individual therapy with adults experiencing a range of symptoms causing psychological distress. Specifically, I have had success working with individuals coping with depression, anxiety, stage of life issues, substance use, psychosis, as well as stress and anger management.

I offer a balance of empathy and insight that encourages psychological change. I typically utilize a Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) principles with emphasis on the cognitive component and establishing a nonjudgmental relationship. Focusing on the ways one's thoughts, behaviors, and emotions work in tandem presents an opportunity to confront and analyze patterns, themes, emotions, and distortions associated with an individual's problems. I have found that integrating existential and humanistic principles into my work is especially valuable for those individuals struggling with life transitions, identity development, and finding a sense of fulfillment in life.

Clinical Approach

"I offer a balance of empathy and insight that encourages psychological change"

Prior to graduate school, my interest in clinical psychology was rooted in understanding the nature of mental disorders and how psychological distress manifests and causes disruption in an individual's functioning. Throughout my doctoral training, I provided therapy and psychological assessment at a community mental health center, a therapeutic day school, an inpatient psychiatric hospital, and a behavioral health hospital. During my internship year, I continued my training at AMITA Alexian Brothers Behavioral Health Hospital in Hoffman Estates.
